It’s been a while, but I’m back! A lot has happened since we last saw each other, and it’s been very hectic and tiring. But I am back and hoping to post bi-weekly again. (Fingers crossed.)
Firstly, I moved! I left my dear Aberystwyth and moved to Derby. I will miss the sea and sunsets over it, and my early morning walks along the beach, but I am also really enjoying the luscious greenery and fields on my doorstep here in Derby. Still, it felt so strange and sad to leave Aber. So many wonderful things have happened there, and so many beautiful memories were made in that little seaside town I called home for four years of my life. It will always have a special place in my heart and I fully intend to go back to visit as often as I can. But with the end of my time in Aber, a new beginning can start here in the midlands. I am so excited to start at NTU (also nervous) and cannot wait find out where this new chapter will take me and my art.
As promised, my shop is finally live!! You can find it linked on the store page of this website, or search for AACurstonArt on Folksy! More things are being added every day, and if something you want isn’t up yet, it may yet go up, it’s just it takes me around thirty to forty minutes to list one painting, so it’s just taking me a while to do it. In my shop you can find prints (editioned (only ten of each ever)) and original paintings! I hope you like what’s on offer and can tell your friends about it! (Postage is separate and aims to get your order to you safely and undamaged.)
Rent must be paid and food must be bought, so I went and got myself one of those job things. How thrilling. I can’t say I’m particularly excited about it, but needs must; as long as I still have the time and energy to do the things I really care about then I don’t mind.
The biggest news of all however is that I found out my degree result yesterday… After three years hard work, I can announce that I GOT A FIRST!!! I am absolutely over the moon and so, so proud of myself. I had fully convinced myself that it wasn’t going to happen, so was in complete shock when I found out! I had just missed out on the top grade at every other level of education for art, so to finally get there when it matters most is incredible and gives me so much confidence going into my masters. I can’t possibly now say that I don’t know if I’m good enough to be there because this grade affirms it. Years of hard work, finally paying off.
It has been too long since I sat down to do some art and I fully intend to change that ASAP. I can’t realistically paint in my usual way in my current flat, so I’m considering experimenting with a bit of collage/mixed media to help keep my creativity flowing over the summer. I also intend to do some realistic space paintings as well, to help maintain and improve my observational skills and accuracy of drawing.
I'm hoping the coming week will be the start of a better functioning routine and the creation of art. Only time will tell…
I hope you all have a wonderful week, stay creative and curious, and I’ll see you next time!
Anna.
P.S. Don’t forget to look out for the first official James Webb full colour images on 12th July!!
